Under 7’s and under 8’s at Syston Rugby Club
Both age groups train together but however play separately on match days.
The training and playing is based around the concept of Tag rugby having fun and learning the basics, passing weaving defending, in a safe environment of tag rugby. The training sessions last about an hour and a half and there are up to 17 games in the season. The season starts with our own festival and ends with the Leicestershire county festival at the end of the season.
One of the highlights is an all age tour for the mimi section to a destination within the U.K. All training is undertaken by people who have been C.R.B. checked and overseen by Level 1 coaches. Everyone is welcome to come down, training is from 10:30 until 12:00 at the club.
Under 9’s training at Syston Rugby Club
The under 9’s start to develop their rugby skills as they are introduced to contact rugby. This season they will start tackling, rucking and mauling.
These will then be used in game situations, the games also become longer in time. The line-out and scrum are also brought into play however these are both uncontested and are used to restart the games.
Under 10’s training at Syston Rugby Club
The under 10’s continue the contact format as their scrums and line-outs become contested the number of players remains the same.
Under 13’s training at Syston Rugby Club
Under 13’s training takes place from 6.30 till 8 on a Tuesday evening. Please arrive a little earlier to get changed and briefed.
New players welcome please make contact with a coach before coming down. Gum shields are required.
Under 15’s training at Syston Rugby Club
Syston Under 15’s training sessions take place Tuesday evening and start around 6.15pm. Sessions will last approximately 11⁄2 – 2 hours.
Matches are arranged for most Sunday mornings throughout the season, both at home and away. Games usually kick-off at 11:00 am.
